Hey guys, I have an extra engine from an 03 Yamaha zuma yw50 2t scooter. I also have the complete wiring harness off the zuma it came on! And just in case I kept all electric components that the harness was plugged into! I got 3-ish zuma scooters for free from a guy that lives around the corner from me. I have a complete 2003 zuma that I’m going to get running and keep. I also got a 2003 zuma that didn’t have any body panels, no lights, and no ignition or key! but it had a complete engine and harness and everything I might need for my swap. And the third one was a bare frame with a motor attached to it basically. No harness no nothing, not even a front wheel. The 2 scooters that Weren’t complete I took everything off I wanted and scrapped the frames!
Now here is what I’m hoping to do!
Project 1:
So the very first scooter I ever bought and the scooter that made me kinda like this scooter thing is a Chinese 2010 Flyscooter Hero 50! It had a 49cc Minarelli 2 stroke motor, well a Chinese clone of 1 at least. But it was fun and I loved the 2 stroke noise and I modified it a bit and made it faster, not to much because I wanted to keep it reliable. But after about a year of no problems at all, the motor gave out and blew up. And it’s been sitting for about a year now. I was going to rebuild the motor soon actually but since I have an actual Yamaha Minarelli out of a 03 zuma and harness and everything, I figure I will just swap this motor onto my scooter. How hard would it be to do this? I know the motor will basically bolt right up because it’s the same thing for the most part! And other than maybe having to extend some wires and maybe switching a few plugs between the new and original harness, because some of the electrical components might be in a little bit of a different spot, there shouldn’t be much more to it than that right? Like it should be a easy swap I’m assuming but idk. Any tips or pointers would be appreciated! If you could tell me maybe a step by step process of how you would do what I have to do if you were in my shoes that would be great!
Project 2:
I have a 2021 icebear maddog, basically complete minus the motor/back wheel, and the harness. The second engine that doesn’t have a harness I got off the other frame I want to try to put it on the maddog! How would you guys do this if you were doing it?
