It just seems there is so much misinformation, or weird advice out there. Today I was watching a video of a guy fitting a Malossi cylinder to a Honda. He was advised by a Facebook group to leave it running at idle for 30 minutes to run it in! They also advised him previously to undo the throttle cable at the throttle to fit to carb slide. What a drawn out way to do the job. Any other nuggets of wisdom?

I'm in a few fb scooter groups, im amazed at what advice people give others. I think most read something and think its true doesn't take long till a lot of people think the same. I've almost given up giving advice as most just want to buy the cheapest parts and expect them to work well

Car advice. I've heard it twice on 2 seperate cars I've bought. "Honda parts fit Toyota!" Nooo they don't. They dont even know how it works. For example. I had to replace the hubs because some guy used honda rims. Well, the center hole is bigger on a Honda than Toyota. So, they just bolted them down on 4 nuts. No wheel on anything just bolts to something that spins it. It has a place it rests. Thats the hub and the center hole. They are a very smooth fit. So what ends up happening when you use a bigger center hole rim than what is for your car? It slides back and forth under the lug nuts. Right. You would hear a 'click click click' at low speeds and while driving sometimes. IT was the rim sliding back and forth and banging against the hubs. Ended up bending up the hubs so bad, I had to impact wrench on the right rims once I finally got them over and over again to get them to go down. Ended up replacing the hubs.
I'm guessing hondas back then (90's) had more aftermarket parts, so parts would seem so that you could get them easier. SO they dont know about rockauto or that any part store has parts for these cars, still. Easily. Or maybe they just want it right now. Or maybe Honda is more available, idk. Just ease of use and taking any advice that comes their way. WOrks.. yea for a few months until the lug nuts break off at highway speeds on you one day. Didnt happen to me but I could see it happening to someone.

"Put a big carb on it", they said. LOL For some reason the internet loves big carbs and any aftermarket CDI you can get your hands on.
Local dude bought a new stock Minarelli 50. First mod, big PWK. Perfect. I'm sure it's way faster and more reliable now. Oh wait... he was asking me why fuel was coming out of a passage in the mouth. Showed me the pipe when I said just get a good pipe and a big name 70 (leave the Chinese stuff alone basically). LOL It's a stock fake tuned pipe.
I guess my favorite / most hated of all time for internet BS is Jeremy Vinup on YouTube though. That dude seemed to shamelessly use Home Shopping Network style videos to sell Chinese parts at high prices for years. Looks pretty inactive now. The scooter community does not need more people making a quick buck. One of his vids was titled something like "Why are others more successful than you?" and I never watched it but my 1st thought was, because I'm honest. I'm sure you can do pretty well selling carbs at near double the price if you call them SuperFlow, but I'll just keep being broke and trying to help people instead of ripping them off.

Ever thought your helmet could double as a planter? Neither did we until stumbling upon a guide that turns old helmets into quirky hanging garden pots. It's a head-turning idea—literally!
