Looks like the rebuild kits come for 18, 24, 30 mm. From when I've read the 24 mm is the more common size. What do I measure on my car to confirm my carb size? Is it the inside diameter of the air intake?

Some of the stock carbs are restricted with things like a non-adjustable needle anyway. I'd pick up a carb instead of paying someone $100/hr to work on a $30 carb. I'd grab a main jet kit as well so it could be tuned if needed, but it may not be necessary. If it's a 150, they're 24mm stock most of the time. Click on specs in this link and they'll give you measurements. www.partsforscooters.com/164-49-Universal-Parts-GY6-125cc-150cc-Carburetor

I have bought from both big internet selling sites and the Chinese one also. If you have a carb that is a mixture of clogged jets, falling out idle mixture screws and stiff diaphragms & slides, one from any of those might be better. I have tried to get 18mm I think, and sometimes they were sometimes not. Unless totally defective, they have been 'all right', nothing to write home about, but they worked. Mostly decent with only a few that were flaky. tom

I either built up my courage or my lack of patience kicked in. I took the carb off and tore it down. The rubber diaphragms are pliable and things look pretty clean. But the pilot jet had green corrosion on it and is blocked. The other Jets were clear. There seem to be some fuel in the bowl. The floats move freely and the float needle valve does not bind up. I'm going to try to drill out the pilot jet and see if it runs. Pilot jet is I believe is a h35.

I wouldn't try to drill it out. You will most likely ruin the jet. Try some carb cleaner. Leave it to soak for a while if you can. Then Perhaps just a few strands of wire wrapped together. Or compressed air. You don't want to make the hole bigger than it's supposed to be.

Once it was clean I shot it more carb cleaner. Getting very close now. Test Fire with cleaned carb

Gotta love the positive battery wire with no protection. The fuse is labels F15AL 250v. I believe that makes it a fast acting 15 amp fuse. I was thinking about replacing that with an ATC fuse in a rubber in line connector. Does anyone know if the ATC fuses are "fast acting"?

Sounds like someone dropped a nut in the muffler. I was hoping it wouldn't ride a while Riding. But it does rattle. Video: Rattle

I know it's a long shot but does anybody know what this connector is for? It probably doesn't belong in the battery box but inside the engine area. Everything seems to be working so I don't know what's disconnected.

Black and white is normally a coil or kill switch wire and green is often ground, so it’s likely for a kill switch. Some of these have side stand switches so you can’t start or ride away on the stand and others don’t, but sometimes you will get a connector for a switch and it was never on the bike. Either disabled / unplugged before you or never there.
For the rattle, you’ll either be chopping it up, fixing / removing stuff and welding back together or replacing it to remove the rattle.

To clean the carb I disassembled it as I'd seen in some videos. I took out anything that screwed in. I did notice that the idle mix screw didn't have a spring inside. It was just the needle. After spraying carb cleaner through the passages, I found a small washer on the paper towel. I believe I blew it out of the passage. I don't know where it was located. My guess is it is the washer that goes on the idle mix screw to keep the spring from sitting on the carb. Take a look at the washer and tell me if you think it's something else. Also, there was no spring. I assume that's important to keep the adjuster from creeping. Anybody got a spare?

I had the muffler off so I replaced the muffler gasket. I only needed the gaskets, but the kit came with the studs, new long nuts and a muffler bearing also. I only installed the gasket. Do some scooter use a crush washer also (or instead of)?
