Was starting fine but decided to add oil as hadn't for a couple of weeks. Then wouldn't start. What could it be and any advice to fixing it?

hello,
every forum has an in-depth tutorial that will help you. basically you need spark, fuel, compression, and the vehicle has to 'breathe'.
I always start at the spark plug. remove it, check for spark and compression, then squirt some gas in there and put the spark plug back in to see if it 'fires'. always come back here and tell what happens so others can learn from your experience.
