hello everybody, I bought a new wolf islander and I want to stock up on parts ahead of time. any advice or experience is much appreciated. I am going to attempt to include two screenshots of the wiring diagram. I have questions that relate to it. is the device labelled 'PTC' the choke enricher? is the device labelled 'MANOSTAT' the rectifier/voltage regulator? is the cdi ac or dc? any POSITIVE advice is also welcome (if you're SURE a part will work, please no guesswork) about parts you recommend, but I have to warn you, I'm cheap. the preview is not working so I hope the screenshots work.
thanks, Ed

I do not see a winding on the stator (magneto on the diagram) that provides power to the CDI. I think the B wire leads to the ignition switch where it could pick up power from the R wire connected back to the battery "+" terminal via the regulator. The letters are too fuzzy for my eyes. Maybe if you highlite manostat ... PTC is likely the enrichment byvalve gizmo. Really too small and fuzzy for ease of following. I tried to open up the image, but it led me to an image host service and I am not inclined to mess with that. The one lead to the CDI from the magneto is right next to the 'bump' that indicates it is likely picking up the 'FIRE' signal as the bump passes by... no gizmo to generte AC to run the CDI as far as I can see. tom

hello GrumpyUnc, if you go straight up from the stator, that's the manostat. I chopped a screenshot to illustrate the location. I have never experienced a part being called that before (two or four wheels), but my guess is that the manostat is the rectifier/voltage regulator. there doesn't seem to be a voltage regulator or rectifier on the diagram, so that has to be it. you're correct about the black wire getting positive electric from the red at the main switch. the illustration box shows B to R on the top row. no gizmo to generte AC to run the CDI as far as I can seeI think for it to be a DC cdi system, it would have to have a positive wire going to the cdi. I've read that numerous times, but have never seen a scooter with it. the cdi wires: the black/yellow goes to the ignition coil. the red/white comes from the flywheel trigger bump, but it also splits off to other parts of the bike. it seems that that function is also the kill switch. I don't think I've ever seen that before. the kill switch always gets an exclusive wire, but not here. the green/white wire is definitely ground. one of the yellow wires coming from the stator HAS to be ac current. what are they doing making three wires yellow? they probably didn't have wire of another color and improvised. the black wire shares the red wire when the key is on so there's your positive. it appears all of the elements are there for an ac cdi system. thanks GrumpyUnk, I think I did alright with this purchase.
