First, thank you for all the helpful threads! I have spent a lot of time absorbing information, so thank you to everyone!!
I recently purchased 2 coleman 49cc 1p139qmb scooters, they ran perfect but wanted more speed and power.
Installed what I belive to be the 80cc mod with a Glixal carb. Not super happy with this carb seems to be very hard to dial in mixture screw and idle.
I also installed a bung (novice welder) and a wideband AF sensor. Not sure this is accurate as it jumps all over.
I installed a new belt, cvt with same rollers, cone air filter, and a cdi with no rev limit.
It runs well but feel like I can get a bit more out if it, so I started to install different jets but to be honest what am I looking for, how do you know when you have found the perfect jet and needle position?
I have gotten to a decent idle at 1800rpm and 12.7 to 13.5 AF ratio. When I accelerate it goes very rich, 10 or lower which I read it actually should go lean...but that doesnt make sense.
Stock jet was 78/33 and needle was 3 out of 5, I bumped this to 87/40 and I was able to get to 40mph in 21sec and 30mph 13sec...but seemed to lose a little power on small hills and maybe a tiny hesitation mid way throttle...it also sounded a bit "bubbley" exhaust. I installed 85/35 and seems about the same. Also, it dies after acceleration and going back to idle, my AF shows it leans out.
Should I install a new clutch? Different roller weights? Different springs? Is there a better carb that is less sensitive? Should I try different jet configurations or needle position? Should I target idle on the mix screw or the idle screw? Should i got higher on Main or Pilot jet? Should i be targeting 1800 idle rpm?
I know a lot questions and appreciate any feedback on anything to help. If more information is needed i can provide it and again THANK YOU!!!!!!

Work with ONE thing at a time. The mixture should go rich under acceleration.

wow! installing an af device on a basic gy6 is pretty serious attempts at getting it running well!
Doing lots of small adjustments while timing the runs is a good way to do it.
Have you watched the Admins project Tao Tao videos? He has a complete series on building and tuning up a tao tao 50.

There is a series of YT videos by a fellow living in Salt Lake City, UT(I think) who fitted a wideband O2 sensor, and mucked about with his carburetor. He went through a series of steps to get it to run properly. If you want to see how it is done, find that series of YT vids. As noted, changing multiple things at the same time completely erases any information as to WHAT CHANGE caused WHAT CHANGE. Was it the variator or the jets? The tire pressure or the new belt? Or was it none of the above and the fact the ambient temperature went down 20F? TO change many is to change all, and you learn nothing.IMO. tom
