Recently got a moped that hadn't been running for about 6 months, moped wouldn't start which is why it sat, I just got it running again, was just a spark issue, but the issue is the moped is louder than normal when it's running with most of the noise coming from the CVT, both the clutch side and variator side, just curious if it is a crankshaft issue and what it would be making noise on the clutch side

Have you checked that the variator and clutch are tight on their respective mounts? Sound from the CVT is pretty unusual, and mostly comes when one or the other are loose or worn. It is possible you have rust if it was left exposed to the elements which could cause a noise. Could be the clutch shoe friction material rubbing on a rusty inside of the bell, or similar. tom
