For anybody who doesn't want to spend $300+ on an overrange kit, here is what you need for a budget "overrange" setup on a long-case Minarelli. I am currently running this setup on my 2000 Aprilia SR50 Minarelli.
1) Oversized variator, (S6-5616634 or MS-5112800)- $100(ish)
2) BWS 100, Jog 90 122mm torque driver- $30(ish)
3) Yamaha 4VP-17641-00 774x17.7mm CVT Drive Belt- $10(ish)
*The cheapest place to get the Stage6 variator is usually Brixiamoto ($100, in picture), since their US shipping is about $15. Just expect a month in processing/shipping time. Don't know about Malossi.
*The cheapest place to get the BWS 100 driver is AliEx, but expect it to be unbalanced (wobbly, in picture) if you get the cheap one from "Glixal" ($25). AliEx now has fairly easy returns, compared to the ol' "negotiate with seller" style, so it might be worth a shot if you're in the US. You can get a used OEM driver from Europe using eBay, or spend a bit more for the TWH/JISO (Taiwan) options. I have not tried the Taiwan drivers to see if they're any better, so this will be at your own risk. I do have the TWH unit sitting in storage, since the lip on the back makes contact with the gearbox cover. Maybe some shims behind the driver will help?
*And the cheapest place to get a belt is also AliEx, several belts options can be found for well under $10. I'm using one from the "CQZY&CY" store (in picture), and no issues so far after about 100 miles. If you're looking for name-brand belts, you can use the models Scarabeo 100 2T, BWS 100, and Aerox 100 to find belts. I've also used a belt that's meant for a Peugeot Speedfight 50 that has listed measurements at 770x18mm. So just another model that happens to have a similar belt size. Stage6's oversized/overrange belt is almost the same exact dimensions to the AliEx belts, but usually runs around $50-100 for a single belt in the US... gross.
I am not a scooter/motorcycle tech, so try at your own risk. I have not compared acceleration, so this all might be pointless. However, ne benefit of this setup over the "professional" kits, the belt doesn't appear to make contact with the case-ribs so case modifications may not be necessary. Anyway, hope this helps!
