Hello all
can anyone tell me what the actual engine is on the above please? 50cc or what other scooters/mopeds etc it is used on? or indeed what else will slip straight on (50cc or whatever)?
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers RDS

It will most likely have an engine code on the transmission. Something like QMB139.

Many thanks, I will have a better look tomorrow; I did not see any markings.

yes i think so, but how close a copy and to what model is the real question! From that I can get a manual and then see if parts carry across. Some say that such engines are marketed as pit bike motors but again but I am not sure.

Google is your friend.
It is a motorcycle, not a scooter so you may have more luck on a motorcycle site.

Yes, google is a friend of sorts BUT you need to know what to look for to use it. For example, if you didn't know that a N 1 2 3 4 5 N gearbox (which this has) is usually called a rotary gearbox, you wont get far searching for a barrel or drum gearbox, but a friendly comment to that effect from a forum member would put you on the right track..
I'd say this is a moped hence asking in this section. These 49cc engines are used on scooters too, aren't they though? This looked the closest to a Chinese bike forum that i could find.

Not a moped, no pedals or step through design, not a twist and go CVT, with a gearbox it is definitely a leg over motorcycle design.
We have a motorcycle section but being a scooter site there is not a large interest, just a sideline like electrics.

The engine is more like a pit bike design. The same engine is used here in the uk on some mopeds. some Chinese brands bikes like skyteam and Yamasaki, and Bullit use it. Isn't it a 139 FMB engine? In the US it wouldn't be classed as a moped. So probably a very rare thing.

Originally pedals were required to fit the legal definition; then it changed here in UK, step through or not....perhaps "less-ped" might be a better name than mo-ped.
The site has a good selection of manuals but too many to browse casually, hence the thought that the engine might be recognised and the search narrowed.
Any help (including electrics) is always good though.

That's a great tip thanks - in fact I need to call the Skyteam dealer for some other parts for an Ace so I will ask there too.
