A while ago when i tried to start my scoot (it rode prefectly fine two hours before) it just kept backfiring which evntually cracked the reed, when i got home i immidiately checked the ignition timing and somehow it was 180 degrees of, firing about 15 degrees before BDC. What could cause this? Dead CDI?

Flywheel shear the key? Put a timing light on it

Used a timing light that's how i know it's 180 degrees off and it can't be a sheared key becouse the TDC arrow still lines up with actual TDC.

Normal spark should happen when the trailing edge of the timing hump on the flywheel passes the pulse (trigger) coil. If you watch for that with the timing light and it does not happen at that instant, then it is either the pulse coil or the CDI box...

Oh wait, is the arrow on the flywheel not for TDC, the spark does indeed happen when the hump passes the trigger coil.
