Is it normal for my 2 stroke to sometimes hang rpms for a few seconds? It happens typically when I move a short distance and immediately stop and the rpms just don’t drop instantly it runs rough but they drop after like 2 3 seconds. This only happens sometimes so I’m not sure if I should touch the air screw. What’s your guys’ opinion?

Too rich and/or too much oil. Search on spark plug reading. Hanging RPM is frquently caused by a small vacuum leak. Usual places are carb loose in its clamp to intake; loose vacuum hose from intake to gas valve (not all scoots have that).

The oil is controlled with an oil pump, I have an SR50 with the Piaggio Hiper2 engine. I see this intake is kinda cracked, could it be causing a leak? How can I check? imgur.com/a/TipzIKK

If that's not already leaking it will be sooner or later so it wouldn't hurt to replace it. To check for air leaks you want to do a pressure test or vacuum test or both. For a quick check you can spray some carb clean, starting fluid something along those lines while it's running where you think an air leak might be and if the idle drops or it stalls it's an indication of an air leak.

I’ve already sprayed some carb clean in possible locations but no change in rpms. This does happen sometimes tho, I can feel it when I decelerate the exhaust will start popping a lot and when I get to a stop it idles rough for a few seconds then it settles.

Nevermind I found the problem. Went out to ride today and rpms started freaking out, double checked the intake manifold and behing where you can’t see has a crack. Put my finger there and rpms settled.
Thanks for the help guys!

Can I put electrical take on the manifold so I can ride it to the mechanic? The crack is pretty big and the rpms are crazy high I’m not trying to risk it siezing.

It might work. But if the engine keeps reving high. I wouldn't risk it as you will be very lean.

The piaggio intake comes with an O ring built in so no gasket. It will take longer to remove the plastics than to replace the intake.

I tried removing the whole seat compartment so I can do it from above but it seems impossible. Is it supposed to be done from above?

Old school trick. Pack cracked intake with grease and it should get you there no problem.

Hey so my manifold arrived and I took out the old one and I see that it has a gasket cut out. Is it supposed to have one? Here’s the new one I’m not sure if it needs a gasket imgur.com/a/1E5y49v

The gasket goes between the engine cases and the reed valve. On the top, the manifold has a rubber seal built in.
