So I need a new starter switch. My scooter has the 4 pin connector but I ordered one on amazon and it didn't start up my scooter. Yesterday I went to the my local scooter shop to buy one and he just showed me one with the 4 pin connector and that it should just work but I didn't take his word on this because he didn't want to unscrew it so I can see the wiring configuration. Maybe I have to get the 4 connector one and change the connection point? I don't know. Can someone please help me out? I'm getting tired of having to start it from the solenoid. Thanks

Trace out the wires and switch leads. Move the connector pins appropriately. Plug it in. Use a VOM or circuit tester light. 5-10 minute job.

In different words... The starter button is connected in series with the front and rear brake light switches. It may be in series with a kick stand safety that disables the starter(interrupts the circuit) with the kickstand extended. I can't remember why it would have 4 pins. The terminals supplied with the switch should only fit one way... I think connecting a test light from ground to the starter button SWITCH side of the starter relay would give an indication of the presence of power/ground depending on the circuit. The switch could be the ground that enables the relay, and if it is not connected to ground it will not enable the relay. If a voltage provider, it would light the test light if connected as above. You can check the ground/power starting at the switch and following the conductor to the relay. A pokey might help to check insulated conductors, but be sure to plug any holes made in the insulation. tom

We need a litany or nursery rhyme like "The leg bone is connected to the thighbone" for that circuit.

Maybe, but I think drawing out the involved switches linked to each other should make it 'legible'. The peekshures shown on most diagrams are too small, too blurry, etc, unless you run into a good one. Most have the same general flow, some with the kickstand safety, but I think the 'power' and 'ground' seem to be swappable. Or not. tom
