Yeah, lol. I think that is mostly because of the push for the better R.T. in bracket style racing.

I call those "cylinder induction" and the other (like mine) "case induction" Reg. Probably not the correct terms but i tend to make up my own lol. Either way, it all makes sense That describes it pretty well I'd say. I can imagine a couple of advantages to that design over case reed induction and that would be quicker warm-up or better running in extremely cold operating conditions. The reed flow area is superior too. I can imagine a couple of disadvantages, though. They would be more cylinder distortion due to the cold mixture on one side of the cyl. and the exhaust port on the other as well as a longer and more contorted induction path. The vertical would not take well to high speed tuning due to these disadvantages. I think your tuning advice is spot on Rob.

Thanks On some apps its different. But the whole port layout (sizes) is different as well. I dont think the dirtbikes have much of a problem making power and flat out screaming with cylinder induction?.. Hehehe But them are huge ports compared to scooter cylinders. Hori or vert.
