Has anyone had a problem running Redline Racing 2 stroke oil in an injection system? Says it's safe for oil injection on the bottle... So, the main reason for this, as stupid as it sounds, is the smell. I love the smell of the castor oils. Maxima 927, Benol, etc. But they won't work in my injection system and I've heard they're "dirty". My neighbor was riding his CR125 around and there was that smell! So I asked him what he was running. Redline Racing. Another question out of curiosity is why some oils have that magic old school smell? I used to think it was because they were castor based. But now I smell this Redline and it's synthetic! By the way, the scoot is a 2001 pre-bug, 70cc tops black trophy, 17.5 dellorto, boyesen reeds, leo vince tt, 13/44 gears, Malossi MHR over range kit, 7g rollers, polini speed 3 clutch and bell (adjustable spring tension), and 1500 rpm yellow malossi contra spring.

I do not know any mineral racing oils (which castor oils are) that are suitable for injector systems. Only the bottom of the barrel cheap basic oils, which are mostly mineral but smell horrible. If you want a good oil suitable for injector systems take a look at Motul 710. If you want the racing oil smell you are going to have to premix yourself.

I know it smells good and seems to be made for injection.

Myself I stay away from mineral oils as much as I can, and go with 100% synth as much as possible. I am not racing fully built race motors so a castor oil is nowhere necessary for me. Mineral oils are in all situations inferior to synthetic oils. Unless you are racing your bike, constantly on the brink of failure and don't care about fouling plugs, sticking rings, clogged exhaust ports because it's getting torn down and cleaned after every race anyway.

I agree with you on using synthetic oil. I've been running Belray si-7. Redline says it's synthetic, so I'll probably give it a try. How bad can it be???

So, i called Redline directly and they say there's no problem running that oil in an injection system in my application. I'm going to try it. Probably won't know if it works unless it doesn't! Wish my piston and me luck!
