Hello 49ccsoots! I have not been here for quite some time, and have a question for which I cannot find an answer. I just finished building up the SSP-G 180cc BBK. The original fan shrouds do not fit. What do people normally do, cut the original shrouds to MAKE them fit? There does not appear to be anything available for purchase.
TIA

It basically fits, but the clam connection on the right side of the engine just ain't gonna work.

I can see the problem, the jug is just too big? I am sure you have looked for anything obvious holding it open but maybe look again. Otherwise, -seal it up with some sheet metal, & screws for strength, and some of that aluminum foil type duct tape for the air seal and 'cosmetics'.
On my scoot I cut a hole near the same location and tapped off some of the heated air to feed my carb to keep the carb from icing. It worked very well. Carb icing is something almost nobody ever thinks about but I had it happen on two of my vehicles. It is extremely hard to diagnose.

I think I see what's going on. The new engine case has a wider lip across the top edge. The flap on the fan shroud is gonna have to be cut off. Will need to cover the EGR slot in the fan shroud as well, because the new valve cover does not have EGR plumbing.

It's not perfect but it's not bad. Good enough. Had some aluminum flashing lying around. Cut that to size, applied some high temp exhaust silicone, and threw some pop-rivets in it. Also good enough.
