I got an xpro Oahu 50cc moped that broke a belt and hasn't been the same since. I ordered, a racing variator it came with 8 gram weights but I got the factory 5 grams in it because it's all factory. My clutch locked up after I put the new belt on so I bout a factory replacement on and put on it no power. I put a red spring glixal 2000 rpm on it. No power. I'm 300 lbs and it had no problem before the belt broke what am I missing. I made sure the variator stayed against the engine so the weights didn't come out the groove I just got it running again and still no power at all but will rev to 8000k quickly. Is this because of the red spring clutch and to low of weights. When the tires of the ground the throttle hits perfect but on the ground it just barely takes off. Please for the love of God helpe somebody

Have you tried putting the stock variator back on?

I had a crack in my original one but I took one off of an vip moped that weighed exactly the same and bought new 5 gram weights the correct ones as my original ones had a slight flat spot in them and no change. I took off the rear gear oil screw where you add oil and didn't see anything and if you sit on it and barely rock it back and forth I mean just an inch or so you can feel something like slightly hitting in there. It revved kinda high twice after the belt broke could all that have happened by the rear being out of gear oil. I couldn't find any around my house and I'll be changing that first thing but would that make it do that. The last time I rode it was about 18 miles. And with a 45 min break in the middle but on the way home it lost 500 rpms 2 different times. And tonight after getting it back running I swear I hear a clicking in the rear

Oh I should add it's a long case with 12 in rims but I got the rear apart out of the vip short case of course worse case could I use just those gears to get mine back if there's something blessed up back there? This is all new to me but I'm pretty mechanically inclined. So any knowledge about these rears will be appreciated.

I would bet a dozen sour cream glaxed that the gears in the final drive gearbox are the same regardless of the long/short case differences. If you take it apart, you can count the teeth on the gears to see if they are exact duplicates. I think you would be able to tell if the bearings are damaged in the gearbox by spinning the input shaft manually. I think you might be able to feel any roughness in the operation, with spots possible where the bearing races are damaged. You could compare the needed effort on the short case putting them both on the stand, and spinning the clutch bell. Have you looked to see if you have any clippings/strings/clods/pieces/bits of the old belt that got behind the clutch or the variator? The bits could be adding friction. When you install the new belt into the CVT, it should bottom out on the variator, and ride near the outer diameter of the clutch. Without a load, most will rev willingly to pretty high rpms. Can you feel the clutch engage as you bump the rpms while at a stop, release and bump again? The scoot should start to take off and pull as the rpms rise, and release as they fall. The belt should be snug when installed, not loose and floppy. tom

Yes first thing I checked was pieces of it in the clutch I thought this may have been what locked it up. So just in case I didnt see something both have been changed I've got a factory variator I'm putting back on it now just in the case that may be the problem. But I've noticed a clicking sound in the rear but I've just got my hand on some gear oil and I'll be filling her up here in just a few to see if that may be the issue. More to say here soon. This has really got me stumped

Don't fill her up. It's not like a car. There is an amount stamped on the cover by the fill hole. It doesn't take much oil so you are better off draining the old stuff out. Then fill it up with the right amount. It's often only 100ML or 3.5 ounces.
