Hello everyone!! I aplogize for being away for most of the month. Im sure a few of you remember me asking about the Buell Blast because I was somewhat interested in purchasing a used one for my first motorcycle. Not too powerful, beginner friendly, fairly inexpensive, and easy to ride, it seemed like a good choice.
After scouring the local classifieds and craigslist since right after thanksgiving for a suitable learning machine, I realized that my choices were limited for the budget I set for myself. 1700. to 2000. would be ideal but no more than 2400.00 was my limit.
I had basically two options- there was the blast, and a few ninja 250's. As far as what was near me in good running condition and didnt need immediate work.So last week, another kind of bike popped up for sale. there was a 1986 Honda Nighthawk 700s which was a rare color scheme and overall in good condition for its age.
Then there was a 1996 Nighthawk 750. Both people were asking 1500.00. I drove to shallotte NC with a buddy and ended up paying for the bike and having Dan drive it back that night. This is the bike Ive included a photo of.What do you guys think?
I paid 1250. for it and its got 16500 miles on the clock. sheetmetal and body is in excellent shape. In fact, the whole bike is pretty darn clean. Never been dropped, paint is bright and vivid,no rust. It needs a chain soon cuz its starting to stick and turn signals if I so choose. Thats it. Got it friday night. Got my learners permit monday, insured monday night, and got my registration and tag yesterday. Fully legal for the first time.
Ive never ridden on two wheels before I got my triton 2t last summer, but the fundamentals, Ive learned, are pretty much the same. The 750 feels like a well balanced scooter from hell. With four cylinders it fucking rocks when I pull the throttle even 1/2 way!
So Im pretty psyched. And I wanted to let you guys know That i decided against the Buell, Cuz i got an amazing deal on this Honda. Im not sure exactly what society "says" its worth(kbb,etc..) but its well worth what I paid. Hell I wouldnt have said no to the whole 1500.00. After paying my taxes, test fee's, getting it registered I'm still under 1500. invested. I did good...
