Hey fellas, been a while since I've been here, back when I got hit by the car...
Anyway, I rebuilt!
But lately, the scoot hasn't been doing well...my starter solinoid went out, I think it might have been due to my starter spur staying in the 'out' position for a short ride...(make sure your scooter is sounding like it should while running before you put your headphones on...) So I replaced it and cleaned the starter spur gear to insure no belt dust was causing it to stick. It worked for a week until I heard the chatter of the spur stuck in the out position for a second it had to chatter while I fumbled for the kill switch...and then, nothing... So I got to looking, and it looked like the actual switch for the start button was sort of...melted......we all have our electrical gremlins, right?
Anyway, through all this, I just kick start it...cause it starts 1st time...but here lately, the snap ring that holds the kick start shaft in the belt cover housing - has started slipping off, that causes the shaft to wobble and it binds the gears...my question is, is what all should I replace? Just the bushing? The whole shaft? New belt cover?
Along with all that, I'm starting to see trace amounts of oil in my air filter element...crap in a hat man! So I'm getting some blow by...its an 07...so is one of those oil catch cans a way to protect against running dry until I replace the cylinder? Is there a way to make one? I'm cheap and this is a 'rat-scooter' so it dosent have to be pretty...
Whole new set of questions, sorry for the rambleing...all suggestions welcome!
