Picked this up for $80 today. It had a 72bbk put on and then he let it sit and now it wont crank and the battery is dead. He took the carb off to clean it then gave up. Everything is there. Crack in the front body panel. Orange coil and cdi. The key is bent and the plastic is missing off it but its the more common key so that wont be a problem to get it copied. Good tires and mirrors and seat. It was in a dark garage so no sun damage. Attachments:

I really need to start looking on CL and in the papers more or something. The deals some of you guys find amaze me. I saw another Venus for $450 local once and I thought that was a great deal, and it was pink. lol
My friend had an SC50 years ago. It was the style that looked like a Vento Zip, before they switched to the body style you have. It was one of the weird motors with a GY6 engine and basically a minarelli transmission. Is this one like that or does it appear to be a standard GY6?

it has the smaller battery box in it, the one where it has enough room for the cdi. Its a 3AH battery and the New batteries i have here wont fit. Anyone have the larger battery box? Attachments:

I see now why it was so hard to start, it has a 40 pilot. Ive found that bigger than 32-33 on a 72 is rich when cranking and makes starts a bear. He let it sit because it was so hard to start and claims it only has about 10 miles on the 72 top end.

Sweet find! And 150 compression?? Nice! Even my KLX351 only has like 108 or so (the rings are intentionally designed to be slightly undersized, so it will fail a leakdown test when cold every single time... but that's how you can get a high mileage performance big bore).
That will be a nice turn-around.

Whoever did the top end had the cam timing off a tooth. it would idle fine but no power and spitting back through the carb. runs great now. gas gauge is bad so it needs a gauge cluster and a key. I have $165 in it.
