So I have the 1pe52qmg 100cc 2stroke motor in my scoot. Runs great and is tuned well. If I run a stock 797/16.6/30 belt and those specs are accurate it wont get into high gear at all. Max 40ish mph with the rpm prettyt low. If I use an old belt with the same specs but the width of this belt is significantly reduced(havent measured, but at least 15mm rather than 16.6) It will turn very nice rpm and will hit 50mph nicely. SAnybody know why this is? I would order a belt with a small width but there arent any that I can find.

is it not just that the new belt is errr new? ive put new belts on before and theyve took a fair few miles to bed in properly.

I believe the problem here the rear pulley and it's ability to open fully at the lower RPMs the 100cc's run at with stock pipes. If you put a weaker spring in, it will open too quickly and have trouble getting to speed - loosing that appeal that the 100cc has: powerful acceleration. But theoretically the weaker spring would cause it to get into the high gear. I tried off setting this with increasingly heavier rollers in the variator without success. Still cruising around at 44mph, but getting there quickly.
I think your more narrow belt is able to reach into the rear pulley opening it more even at the lower RPMs, giving you a higher top speed.

its also possible that the pulleys are fouled with belt dust & debris. may be worth taking them apart & seeing if they are clean & free moving? it's always worth inspecting the rollers for flats anyway

When I tried 3g rollers, it went up and started moving nicely, although with too much rpm in my opinion. Gonna try a couple different combinations in the variator and see what happens. I also have a 1000 rpm torque spring

Other mods include 21mm arreche carb, and a Hoca exhaust.

Good news. There was already a spacer on the drive boss so I added another and put 4g rollers in all around and its running beautifully. Thanks for the ideas guys
