www.scooter-attack.com/shop/#!/en/Keeway/F-ACT-50-Racing-SP-as-from-2009/Variators/Sport/NK90058-Variator-NARAKU-High-Speed.html I am thinking of getting this vario. Any input on this would be most appreciated.

i got one and it worked ok once i'd opened out the hole in the pulley - it was too small to fit the shaft. not bad quality the naraku stuff and comes in a nice box

They say it gets rid of the frail star washer on the outer face. I actually like the star washer. It's made of steel so it seems like it should be less likely to have issues with the splines and if it does break it's like a dollar. I dunno though, the bigger Aerox and BWS 100s use setups like that Naraku, so I guess there's merit to it.
I think most aftermarket varis will give you a nice gain. I like the Hoca and other Malossi MultiVar clones, but it doesn't come with the outer face. If you do choose the Naraku, maybe try talking to Enviromoto. I know he's a Naraku dealer and maybe he could get you a better deal? Worth a shot anyway.

Thanks for the info.
I was also thinking about the Stage6 vario, but it is about the same price and doesn't have the outer pulley. Its is another 30 buck for the CNC face. Although it does come with a contra spring. Also they say it was made to match my Stage6 Sport Pro cylinder. Also the drive pulley has a different star washer, the only place I've seen one was on scootercraft and they're gone. I saw another pic on here with someone(don't remember the thread) who had the Stage6 vario and drive face but had the original star washer(looked a bit small).
Pretty soon my whole bike is going to be Stage6.
I think they should give me the stuff for free and I could be a rolling billboard for them.
Maybe a bad idea though. Don't want to attract attention from the MAN (police).
It is already illegal by modding to a 70cc.
I already get looks by peeps just because it says RACING on it.
I haven't even put my Stage6 decals on because I don't want anyone to know it has been modded.

I had one too. I played with it for a few tests then went back to a modded stock drive face with better results. The stock star washer works fine with them.

This pulley is great for chinese engines, the outer pulley has an exrta lobe letting the belt ride lower, i also use daytona springs with the stage 6 clutch- they don't fade with heat.

Sorry to revive a dead thread but I also want to know what vario you got Ronan. I'm looking into them more and more now that I have my carb and Stage6 exhaust on the way.
My biggest concern with the Stage6 drive face was that it has no cooling fins. I understand it says they're not needed because it's made of special alloy but what about the rest of the transmission that isn't made of high tech alloy? I was under the impression that those cooling fins cooled off the entire transmission.
As short as they are, even the Naraku has fins, although they face backwards if you look at a standard drive face.
