Buying premium but pumping regular. I spoke to a gas pump repairman and was told the the single hose type pump holds about 1/2 gallon of fuel between the hose and pipe in the pump. So when you press the premium button for your gas the first 1/2 gallon is what ever the previous customer bought ( 95% likely regular ). So when you buy $3.00 premium you get 2.00 regular and 1.00 premium and the next customer get your 1/2 gal. premium at regular price.

I know right! I do too.
I was at the pump the other day and filled a small 1 gallon can, THEN filled the scooter tank in the same setting. Man, my scoot seemed to run better that whole tank. Started easier, ran a lil stronger. Only thing i could think of was that fill-up. Since then i had to fill it in a small town about 30 miles from here called Pine Village. I was out visiting my brother and needed fuel. Filled it with their "premium" and noticed a small drop in performance. Just yesterday i went and filled a 5 gallon and 2 gallon can with 93oct. as i like to have some here at home. And the gas prices keep creeping up (daily). And i wanted an honest tank of (almost) 93oct.

I get discouraged just filling up a 5 gallon can with with prices for premium, then add in my AMSOil for the 2T and the price goes up farther. I fill from 5 gallon containers at home, so I at least get something closer to premium most of the time. With P90 I fill up at pumps to get an accurate reading of the fuel economy, usually .5 - .75 gallons... so who knows what octane I actually had. I'm gonna start looking for performance cars, sportbikes, and the like and getting in line behind them at the pumps. lol

I used to be able to travel and get Sunoco GT100 at it's own pump, but they quit selling that anywhere closer than about 2hrs from me now. Used to drive about 45min each way to get it for my hopped up 2T cateye... but then it was $5.00 for a sorta race gas and regular gas to get there wasn't so damn high. Get a group of friends to ride along in the old Lincoln Town Car we had, enjoy the ride there, it was fun so it was worth it and it was still about the same price as driving 20 miles and paying more for the more serious race gas, and waiting for it to be ordered at times. That reminds me. I miss cruising. For close to 10 years now cruising in my neck of the woods has been dead. I used to actually be able to see some other Mustang ppl, Camaros, a little muscle, etc... around on a weekend night. Not anymore. It's better for my driver's license, but I miss it.
