Just redid the topend on a 07 Alphadog? (eton clone) 2 stoke. Everything seemed fine when completed, started first kick and ran strong.Of course I was taking it easy on it to break it in. Anyhow after a couple mins of running (enuff to warm it up)I would shut it off to do a plugchop and try to restart it and it wouldnt restart. After rechecking compression and spark(which seemed a little weak btw) it would start and run fine again.Seem to be loading up a bit. After several times of doin this I decided to look intothe carb. First I checked bystarter(ok) Than cleaned the whole thing. No difference. Then checked the voltage output at the battery,it was 12ish.As I was grasping for straws I decided to check the voltage to the bystarter,4.5 volts tops. Anyways I hooked up 12 volts directly to the bystarter and now it starts up everytime after engine is warm. Probaly put on another stator tommorow see if that corrects it.Any thoughts on the matter are welcome..Thanks

to the forum. Sounds like you've got it figured out. If it's not getting enough juice the enricher won't shut itself off, or it would take longer perhaps. Stator seems like a good bet, because they usually get their power directly off the stator, not through the rectifier or anything else. I think they usually tap into the wire that goes to the rectifier, so if it were weak it could cause battery charging issues eventually. You could try measuring the AC output of the stator with it disconnected. If it's putting out plenty of volts then check all of the connections and grounds first.

My thoughts exactly. But it is kinda nice to have a bunch of extra parts to help on the trobleshooting side of it. So i am goona just do a quick swap of the stator and see if that gets it, if not will go another direction.Seems to me that the biggest problem with the chinese and tiawanese scooter is the electrical end of them. The motors themselves seem pretty good for the money. This is comin from someone who learned his chops on Honda elite 2 strokes. Only thing that ever went wrong on those was the fuel or the compression end of it,very very rarely was elctrical. But there are 100 chinese scoots out ther to 1 honda or even yamaha it seems like these days.

It doesn't help the electrical any that you never know how stuff is wired for sure, because they vary from make to model and probably day to day in some factories. lol Then the loose connections and crappy connectors in some cases and so on. I dunno enough about the construction of most electrical devices themselves to tell you if they're subpar or not. I know I've seen plenty fail, but have no real Jap scoot experience to compare to.

Nice work figuring out the issue. :thumb:
I've been wrenching on these things for a while now and the electrical stuff still gives me fits. I have actually bought a CDI online that was faulty. Took me a week to figure that sh*t out. Another time I had a scoot with a bad reg and stator at the same time. That was fun. I've turned down jobs when I see that someone else has been tampering with/butchering the wiring.

Have a keeway on the stand right now that had a bad cdi and bad stator on it.Plus the cdi I use for troubleshooting somehow went bad sittin on the benchtop. Alot of hairpullin on that one yesterday. The guy I am workin on them for got them from a "scooter shop" ,you could tell that someone was tryin to fix it but couldnt figure it out. I have got alot of hours in these things to get to the point of half knowin what I'm doin.. :lmao: lol

Btw... I figured out the original problem. The last person to work on this scoot switched the bystarter plug with the oiltank level warning light plug.Thats 3+ hours of my life I cant get back. Cant believe I didnt notice, live and learn I guess. :swear:
