Just bought my first Chinese 49cc scooter. I have been reading some of the threads on here and you guys are awesome coming up with new ideas on getting more power and speed. My problem is that it all sounds Greek to me, lol. I am wanting to get more power and speed. I can cruise about 35-40 mph, but soon as I hit a hill I drop to around 25. Can someone please help me get this fixed? I'm not ready for the big bore kit yet, budget has to take baby steps. And please explain it in child words. Like I said I am very new to this all.

i suggest buying the hanyes manual first and read it like a novel. its in the 'scooter product reviews' section. this will help you learn what everything looks like and where its located on the bike.

:welcome: to the forum! If you are reading along and not sure what something is, I did setup a little glossary that may be of some assistance at times... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=basicstuff&action=display&thread=347What your scoot is doing sounds pretty normal to me. These things are underpowered and added weight, hills, headwinds, etc.. really shows you just how much they lack in the power department. You can try lighter roller weights in the variator to see if the hill climbing performance improves. Your RPM will be higher pretty much all of the time with lighter roller weights though. It may or may not help much. A big bore kit is definitely the answer for dealing with hills and such IMO. CVT tuning is nice, and you should always try to keep in tune, but you can only expect so much out of 3ish HP.

When I do get the 70cc big bore kit, do I need to change the carb as well? If so what should I get?

Thank you for info on carb with the kit. Should I use the stock head with the bbk or should I upgrade that too? I see alot of people on here us the stock one, why?

the kit above comes with a head. using the stock bore head with a big bore kit will give higher compression ratio but could also cause piston to head interference. for a street application i dont reccomend using a stock head.

thats not 100cc there is no true '100cc' kit for these 47mm bore=72cc 50mm bore=82cc 52.4mm bore somewhere around 86cc
that kit you posted i have gotten many of those and sometimes the ring gaps are too wide and 50mm rings are hard to find.
I suggest paying more for a good quality Taiwan kit. As Enviromoto says, 'buy quality or buy it again'
trying to build a powerful motor using the cheapest parts you can find usually leads to frustration and more money spent in the long run. learn from my mistakes lol.

the foundry mark on the cylinder tells alot. the round mark that sometimes has the number '8' in it those are from china. the quality is...meh.
the octagon that sometimes has a 'KH' inside it....those are very good and i think they are from Taiwan. Taiwan seems to be the leader for quality scooter parts.
