Will a 150cc moter fit into a 50cc frame and does it take a crazy amount of work to do it if so.

Some scoots were setup for either as I hear it, but I imagine that's kinda rare. The GY6 50 and 150 have their mounts in different spots, one top and one bottom, so it takes fabrication to make it work. I don't suggest that anyone swaps engines unless you are prepared to do some metal fab. Then you may also need to change out wiring components etc...

yeah 50ccs are about 98% bottom mounted the 150cc are 98% moutned towards the top, I've seen a a 50cc frame with a 150cc engine in the lad had some basic fab work done by his dad who was a welder. unless you can weld I doubt you'd be able to pull it off

those are for show or the track only not for the road, the bike doesnt do anything but go in a straight line well with that.

Besides, for that price, buy yourself a 150cc. If your thinking is to make a 150cc appear as a 50cc for legal purposses, it's still not technically legal without the motorcycle license if you get pulled over. Likely to get the scoot impounded.

That's true, Mines a sleeper, looks like a 50 cc but it's actually 90 cc.. Anything over 49 cc in Indiana is considered a motorcycle, MC endorsement, insurance and tags are required.. And for me I had to take my MSO to the Indiana DMV a pain in the as*. show them it was modified and show them the current displacement and have a title issued.. Only then could I get the Insurance and Plates.. It was a huge pain in the butt, better to buy a 150 and be done with it.. And if your impounded without a legal title for your scooter, Not a MSO a title, proof of insurance and tags. It's going to be very very hard to get it back if at all..

Keep an eye out in the build section. I'll be posting pics of my 150 swap. It is taking a lot of fab work. I removed the top mount from a 150 frame to use on the 49 frame as well as the shock mounts.
