Cant keep battery charged. I tested my battery, got 12.58 V and tried starting and it only dropped to 11.28. So thinking rectifier, do you know how to check these?

Start it up and check battery voltage first. If it doesn't increase, hopefully 14-15V when revving, then it could be the rectifier or stator. Also, always check that grounds are secure. If you don't see the battery charging, you can try disconnecting the stator from the wiring harness, just the part that provides power not spark, and see what kinda voltage you see there if any. Should be AC voltage when you measure that.

What 'vert said but dont unplug the rectifier with the engine running or your headlight and tail light and possibly your dash lights will blow i have done this and blew all the lights out more than once
the haynes manual for these has the procedures and specs in it for stator and rectifier and regulator resistance.
odds are if you put the volt meter on the battery with it revved up and dont see 14+ volts its the rectifier but once i did see a bad stator causing it.

There is no sense shooting in the dark.
Remove the battery. Clean the terminals and case. Make sure it is filled up to it's marked level.
Place battery on battery charger. Maximum charging rate of 2 amps, leave for 6 hours.
Load test battery. If you have no load tester install and try using it to start your scoot. If after charging, the battery does SFA, you NEED a battery.

from the stator... charging coil resistance (white to ground with meter on the ohms scale) .2-1.0 ohms
If its completely open that would be a stronger indication though of a failed charging circuit.
you should see 14+ volts on the battery terminals no matter the battery condition.

thank you guys, I did test battery, and reved it up but no gain on volt meter, will try what you suggested and get back

im having an issue with this right now, my battery when charged by a charger will last for a good while, but soon i go to work or to a friends house and let it sit for a minute...go to leave and it hardly wants to turn the engine over like i left my lights on on or something stupid like that... is that the voltage regulator that your talking about or am i all off in never never land?

can either be the stator (on the motor behind the fan) or the rectifier/regulator (little square thing)
