I recently bought a used rukus clone that had a few problems and thanks to this site I got most of them cleared up. But then I took out the plug to see how it looked, and the previous owner stripped out the treads putting it in, I had to fight to get it out. I planned on putting on bbk this weekend cuz I wanted to, but now I have to. So scooter is down for the week. I guess I should have checked it a little better when I bought it. Will post new stats after the build. Again, thanks alot for this site, I would have been totally lost with out you guys!!!!!!!!!!

Glad we could help. Let us know how the BBK turns out. I said I wouldn't modify my very first scoot. I ended up doing a BBK for basically the same reason. "If I gotta replace the head, might as well do a BBK... and pipe... and variator... and...." lol

Once you start modding and get the bug your hooked lol. You can only check so many things when you go and view a scooter. There are always hidden problems, i know from experiance.

If this (or any other major engine damage) happened to me I doubt I would go to BBK, based on all the potential problems that I've heard of. I would just get a larger engine, period. Admittedly, there's a level of pride that comes with knowing that you've built that machine from the ground up, but it's just too much headache for me.

I have a 50mm 82cc bbk as a daily driver which has 4000 miles on it now and it runs beautiful. Larger engine? assuming this ruckus closne is a qmb 50cc unless you put a QMJ 150cc motor in it the only way to go 'larger' is a bigger bore. Hell my new ones come 47mm 72cc from the factory which is this engines original design anyway. Problems come from the bikes being overloaded above the max load rating not big bores.

I don't really know so much that it's pride, many of us here are just "Gearheads" that enjoys this type of thing.. My 72 cc bbk never gave me any problems really, and was very reliable.. I just pushed it well beyond it's design limits to get a job and become employed again.. That's why it broke. And I should say that I knew at the time I was pushing it...
