I'm new to the scooter world. Just signed up today. I just bought an SSR classic 50. Are there any easy ways to get a little more umph out of it without spending tons of cash. Has new plug and running good gas. After 1/2 throttle, seems to flatten out. I know it's only 49cc. Is this normal??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

lighter roller weights and a windshield....those are the best bang for the buck. lighter weights raise the engine rpm into the peak torque/hp range....and a windshield reduces drag.

I'm sorry for being a flake and not thanking you sooner. I had issues where it wouldn't go over 25mph  :stars: up a slight incline, even after I replaced the plug. It had 800 miles on it so I adjusted the valves and it now goes 35mph on the same stretch.. Gotta love the obvious. Anyways, than you so much for your ideas. Again, sorry to take so long to thank you. javascript:add('%20:stars:%20')

I weigh 205. My SSR classic 50 goes 40-45 on flats, but 30 on slight incline. What roller weights would you recommend

What you have or very close to it if those speeds are accurate. You can try lighter to see if it improves on hills, but it may not. Stock scoots aren't exactly overflowing with power.

Totally understand. I opened up the exhaust and made the outlet pipe 1 1/4 inch. On a semi flat slightly down hill she clocked me at 47 mph. Kinda surprised. The valve adjustment made a huge difference. By the way, I did all the checks and figured that my scoot is an a/c system. I got two cdi units (aftermarket) and neither will let it start up. Runs without batter (kick start), no headlight operation without engine running, and stock cdi 1 1/2 x 2 1/2? ? Finally gave up.
