I have been informed today that speeding scooters are having the engine code checked....in Raleigh anyway. They know that 157QMJ means 150cc etc....so if you are in Raleigh NC and riding your 150cc with no tags and get stopped for speeding...they are impounding them until you show the court you have..everything you are supposed to have.
Personally i hope they get lots of em...so they can leave the law the way it is...and leave the 49ccers alone.

Thumbs up to those guys! I really think thats the problem with Indiana. I see so many 150's riding around with no tags. While a lot of 50's get a lot of heat because of it. I've been communicating with some of the local law around here about mopeds/scooters. A lot seem to agree with a lot of things I've talked to them about. I really hope Indiana does something soon but without screwing the people that actually enjoy riding.
I got my license back last week and honestly I take the Zuma over the car about 99% of the time. I just enjoy riding it. It's fun and I love the community behind it!

I hope to see the impound lots around here full of 150s.

Plenty of 150s riding like 50s here in MD too. One of my old customers had a big ass touring 150. He even had his motorcylcle license, still didn't tag it and rode like a 50. I was with a friend on one of my big minarellis and he was on a 150 with 16" wheels. Cop pulled us over and gave him a hard time about it, told him to take it back to VA where he's from and keep it off the streets in MD. Never paid attention to me at all. lol My 103cc says 1E40QMB on it and it's got lots more power than a 150. ;D Some guy on a 150 tagless comes by my house on occasion and revs at me. Has no clue my "49cc" that cops pay no mind will destroy him.

I know from experiance all motorcycles unless Harley's look the same to car drivers. Thats what these people are counting on all scooters looking the same Hi Aeroxbod, I think drivers see Harley's different for a couple of reasons, One they are very big and heavy and will do considerable damage when hit, and the other is noise...Harley's in general are pretty loud compared to most scooters.. So drivers tend to both see and hear them.. I always hated driving a loud bike, but since this last upgrade mines been pretty loud compared to before this last upgrade.. Because of the noise I have noticed a difference in cage drivers actions around my bike. I think they are hearing my presents over their radios and cellphones.. I still drive as if they can't see me, but I have noticed a difference that I can only really attribute to the noise it makes.. Another Cage behavior I hate is when they see a scooter approaching they hurry up and jump out in front of you so they won't be caught behind a slower scooter, I really hate that because they tend to cut the margins of safety so close... I suspect that as gas prices rise 4.16 a gallon right now for regular, that more people will be riding scooters, and as that happens I'm sure the cops will begin to pay more attention scooters as a means of city income.. I don't believe they really are concerned with safety as they are money... I suspect more and more States will begin actively enforcing the scooter laws and checking engine codes as a means of income..

I live in Charlotte, NC and my 49cc will do 50 mph which is more than the mandated 30 mph I know. They can check it all day long. Hell, pull the head and measure the bore, I don't care it's 49cc. Just because I know a little something about how to make them run and can now keep up with traffic, which I feel is a much safer way to ride, why should I be penalized? I do see these yahoos running around here with these big ass scooters and no tag which WILL hurt us all in time. If you ride something bigger than 50cc, tag it, insure it, have a license or stay off the road or get a 50 and do your homework and figure out how to make it run.

My Geely is a 1E40QMB, but it's a 90cc cheater so they would STILL not catch my scoot. LOL.... I do believe that's why customs got so pissed and banned them.

I do believe that's why customs got so pissed and banned them. actauly its not customs its the epa the epa actauly stops them at customs and does random inspections and thanks to all the crap that was brought in in 2008 that didnt meet specs they started busting down on them and if the stuff doesnt match what the paperwork says it should be it gets sent back and then they flag that company and check there stuff just about every time they send something in

all it takes for the alrger engines to come in is for them to submit them for epa testing and as long as they pass smog there good to go
but then again they will be taged as the larger engines on the mco
