bought this bike 2 weeks ago. 7500km(just found out its not in miles). I put over a 1000 on it myself. Runs great. Just got to tap the starter to fire it up. A couple days ago. It started making this noise between speeds of 10 to 40 mph as well as a noticable drop in gas mileage and mild vibration. It can roll along idling and it doesnt make any noise till you give it the gas. At upper range speeds, it can but not always stop this issue. What I've done so far is change the cvt belt which seemed to make it worse. Noticed an ever-so-slight groove in the upper part of the variator but above where the belt seems to ride. After pulling the belt cover off again, I started the bike to observe. The belt does not ride smooth as seen in the youtube videos on it. Unless someone can tell me how, I cannot pull clutch or variator off as I have no impact and a fear of making things more expensive. Gear oil was at 25% capacity at time problem started. My bad, I had never checked this before. Im a fair auto mech but Im finding motorcycles and scooters have their own ways. Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated.

1 thing I was just made aware of. My speedometer is off. Mine read 35 whereas a friend in a car behind me was reading 30. This is after the issue started.

I suggest you get an impact and check the CVT components out. It's not hard to do. Impact is only $30 at Harbor Freight. www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-1-2-half-inch-emergency-impact-wrench-92349.html Once you get the belt off fire it up to see if the engine still makes the noise. If it does then it's not the CVT or the gear box. If it doesn't make the noise with the belt off then it's gonna be either the CVT or clutch or gear box.

It's common for these scoots to have inaccurate speedometers. Doubtful it's related. Most likely CVT.

When the variator back plate guides get worn they get sloppy and that causes the variator to make a metallic rattling sound. Usually more pronounced at idle.
