leave the air box on there all you are going to do is make more noise
the hm engine likes haveing an air box on there unless you are very highly tuned an open filter will do nothing at all for you

Trust jmk on this one.. I played around with open filters and free-flowing boxes early in the game. The only time i noticed a real change for the better was on my 103cc drag engine (built for 1/8th mile bursts). Same engine built for street use usually fares better with an air-box. If you want more flow, or a lil exhaust note coming from the pipe and the carb try removing the snorkel, and or drilling some holes in the air-box. You will of course need a bigger main jet to comp for the increase in airflow

They look slick. On your scoot especially with the rear facing intake and carb. You can instal and run with an open filter. Just know you will need a bigger main jet and the scooter may be finicky with weather changes.

Also open air filters are prone to get wet if running in rain or washing the scooter.

i went through this nightmare with my 2t. I didnt have the proper mj's to make it run correct. I had to rich. It would run good but slowly wet foul the plug every 2 to 3 days. I got a few other juets but they were to lean. I ended up with the stock box back on all is good now.
Well it was till I went to the bar and bought a pigy back shock off of ebay sometime after the bar closed. Now the shock resevoir will not fit behind the stock box. So I am back to having to try and retune with an open filter. I did order more jets so we will see whaqt happens in the near future.

The carb. likes still air, as in an airbox, not turbulence. It could run worse with an open filter or you will have a very hard time trying to jet it.

No room to on his model.. I know what your saying though. Maybe run a hose right back under the seat and use the whole seat bucket as an airbox? Or, put the airbox under the seat.

I had been thinking of making my own airbox for a while. Maybe now is the time. I actually had thought about running my uni filter inside of the box I was going to build.

just so you guys know I put on the shock and dropped the ass down a good 1 1/2" looks killer. so I said wtf and threw on the uni filter. Bottom end is actually better wont run from the mid range on up way to lean. So i am back to making the stock one work till i have time to come up with a plan for my own air box.
sorry to thread jack btw.
