hey ppl! I have a 2 stroke 2005 jinan qingqi qm50qt-3e. i have a few questions and problems.... seeing how i am a beginner with motors in general. My scoot wouldnt turn over so i got a new battery and spark plug for it. The plug is getting fire to it and the battery is charged. I took off the muffler as I was told it may be clogged. Before i did this, it would turn over but not crank. It still doesnt crank but it gets alot closer. So muffler is clogged... can it run without one? Also, i tried tapping on what i thought to be the starter like you would do on a car. Turns out it was the stator and now it doesnt even turn over but the kickstart still almost works. THe petcock is good and i am getting good vacuum on the lines. The bowl on the carb is leaking out bottom drain valve so I cleaned out the carb but i know Nothing about how to tune it and what screw is what on it. Can anyone give me some pointers and/or help me get it started?

As far the muffler goes you most likey could run with out it but it may be illegal (varies by state) I wouldn't recommend it. If its clooged jsut take it apart and clean it and if you wanted to get crazy drill some holes in it as well..lol...as far as everythign else...its above my pay grade...lol...check the tech library just about everything but Jesus' body is in there...lol

NO YOU CAN NOT RUN A 2 STROKE WITHOUT A PIPE
you need 3 things spark fuel air
cranking and turning over are the same thing i means the engine is rotating
so im guessing you mean it will not fire or start
has this scooter ever ran for you was it in storage did you treat the fuel with seafoam before storage have you cleand or replaced the air filter you should grab a compresion gauge and see what you ahve for comrepsion

no i just bought it from a guy for 100 dollars. he just said his friend took it mudding and it hasnt run since. it has a filter housing but no actual filter. how much do compression gauges run? i just got a new job and im a little short on cash. all i know is; its got spark, its got fuel, and its got vacuum. as for air all together... not sure. i know its got to have the correct air\fuel mix. sounds to me like i need a new exhaust and air filter to start with huh?

clean the carb - then get an air filter.... pipe... i would guess should be fine atleast to the point where you can start it.
my guess if he went mudding with it is that the carb is all gunked up.

Thanks for all the advice, it has been very helpful!! ive cleaned the carb... twice lol. someone said the needle might be sticking or not set right cause it was flooding the carb.... due to the fact it was leaking gas out of the drain on the bowl. so i also tightened the drain screw and tried adjusting the float.... which proved to myself i am a newb. so first things first.. i gotta get a new pipe or clean the one i have. btw, does anyone know a cheap and easy way to do so? I dont have a saw or a torch lol.

ok so you realy dont know the last time it ran
if he was mudding and there was no air filter worst thing that could have happend sucked water in hytdrolocked the engine and bent the rod
if you are leaking gas out of the carb you do not have it cleaned right or the float isnt set right
when you cleaned the carb did you pull the jets and float and float needle you need to look at the float needle and seat to make sure there is nothing there
as for the pipe i would drain that gas thats in the tank out (you realy dont know how old it is and if there is water in from playing in the mud) when you have it drained out use that fuel to clean the pipe out
i hang the pipe with the stinger plugged then fill it with the fuel from the header end then i let it sit for a couple of hours then drain the fuel out if it doesnt come out get the air compressor out and blow it out then i might rehang it and put some more clean fuel in just to see how clean it is
once you have it cleaned out let it sit at least overnight before putting it back on and trying to run the scooter as you dont want the fuel vapors in the pipe to light up
a compresion gauge will run you 30 bucks and up

What I wanna know is does your engine look like this? Or like this? Also, Have you made sure there is oil in the oil tank? FYI, in mechanics terms, "Turn over" and "crank" are the same thing. "fire up" or "start" means the engine runs. So, "It will turn over but it won't fire up" is a better description cause it doesn't allow for confusion or misinterpretation.

thanks again guys! jmk, i cleaned my tank about a weak ago already. if i wouldve known this, i wouldve done it that way lol. and yes, i already checked the needle and the float and jet. nothin seemed to be blocked or anything. however, i may not have adjusted my float right when i put it back together. I will also have to wait a week or two for the compression gauge.. gotta get some money lol. As for Fox, mine looks more like the second one. from the left side of the scooter; its the crank case/gear box/kickstart lol, the carb is on top, and the head and spark plug are toward the front of my scoot. and thanks for clearing up the confusion, i always thought it sounded a little off. im from florida but ive lived in alabama most of my life.... people word things weird here... no offense to any alabamians on here, haha, ive obviously picked up on it too from the years. anywho, i have cleaned my exhaust but it is dark now and i must work in the morning, so i will resume tomorrow and keep youz guys updated. once again, thanks for the help.

Ok, afew corrections... if I may. First, it turns out, again lol, that I did tap on the starter motor.. not the stator. Which brings me to my second correction. The fuse next to the battery is not whats buzzing with the electric start. Its the little black box thats plugged into the negative wire next to the battery. Now, for more corrections. I found the VIN on my steering column under a removable cover. Also on a plate on the frame next to the fan shroud. It is LAEAC51023B916835. I looked it up on AnalogX. This told me it was made by China Group LLC... which I already knew. The only other thing it told me was my last correction. Its a 2003, not a 2005. Well, and it was made in plant B lol. But every other thing was invalid or unknown. Now, can anyone tell me from this what kind of motor it has so I can order parts? Ive tried all the decoders and none of them really work for Chinese or Qingqi. Most sites only tell me the year and/or the WMI... once again, which I already know. I will post pics soon, but in the mean time... any advice would be helpful. Thanks
