Based on the VIN information, this kind of engine isn't new but it's new to me. I have come across this kind of GY6 engine that has the valve cover as seen in the picture above. Does any one know what this GY6 variant is. It has only two bolts holding the head cover. Everything about this set up is beefier. The head is 1/2 inch thicker than the usual GY6 head and the cam is 3mm thicker than the usual GY6. The cvt case has zongshen stamped in it and the engine code is ZS1P5QMJ. Asside from telling me the obvious that this is a zongshen motor what is this GY6 Variant called and where are parts for it?

The ZS stands for Zongshen. Does that engine have a 16 inch rim mounted to it? If so they are known as 157QMJ-3 and sometimes they are called 157QMJ-B and I guess a 1P57QMJ I've seen two of the 2 bolt valve cover engines and they both had 16 inch wheels. One was a Tank Racer TR16 and the other a Lance Phoenix which is made by Znen and is the same as a Flyscooters Cadenza. The Lance had a burnt exhaust valve and as you know the head is taller so the valves are 80mm long instead of the standard 60. I tried to put a regular head on the engine and the stud holes don't line up. I tried to order the new parts directly from Lance here in California but they require you have a dealer account so I ended up calling these guys up in Oregon on the phone and the guy knew exactly what engine I had etc...helpful guys. (link below) They ordered the parts for me and then to save time Lance shipped them directly to me. They didn't work with pay-pal for some reason so I gave them a credit card number over the phone. Had a new valve and a new head gasket within a week. They were Bandit motorsports but now they are called Viper Motorsports. The web url is still bandit though. www.bandit-motorsports.com/contact-us.html Scrappy sells a few items: www.scrappydogscooters.com/QJ157QMJ_parts.htmlwww.scrappydogscooters.com/GY6-B_16__wheel_BN157QMJ.htmlTank Racer (TR14) www.tank-sports.com/image/scooters/racer150tr16/main.jpgThe other was a Lance (Znen) Phoenix 150 www.motor-scooters-guide.com/images/lance-phoenix-150cc-21272532.jpgLooks like the CF Moto E-Jewel also has the same engine: www.gekgo.com/images/CF_ejewel150T(2l).jpg Hope this helps some.

Thanks a lot fox. This helped a lot. I've never had to rebuild engines on 16" inch wheel bikes like what you showed. However. Be live it or not I've come in contact with the QJ GY6 on two scooters like this: Thanks for the knowledge fox. It's helped a lot.
