Hi bucket Hummmm not sure your goal, if it's to do a bbk upgrade without upgrading the cvt, then I'm thinking the 83 would give you the best chance of that.. You will have to upjet to probably a 92 or 95 main jet .. I have the 52 mm but it's combined with the stroker and right now I can't find key guides that can width stand the power of the stroker crank.. I'm not sure the 85 cc would be much different, never having tried a 85cc without the stroker....
I do however know many who have done the 83 cc bbk and only had to increase main jet to a 92 or 95 and slightly heaver roller weights...
If your wanting to keep your scooter reliable and make it a daily driver it's best in my opinion to stick to a combo that's fairly well proven.. Id go with the 50 mm, upgrade the main jet to a 92 or 95... do a plug chop to make sure that's enough.. and increase the weights in your variator a gram or two.. Good Luck and keep us posted as to your progress..
