So the 200 dollar, 1800 mile Zip Li fires off finally, but only with help of starting fluid. It runs for a few seconds then dies out. Plenty of spark and oil is mixing as it should, but the fuel has yet to make it's journey to the Carb. Ahh what fun, chasing the fuel lines and changing the filter, as well as the rest of the fuel lines in a few, I'm just glad the wiring gremlins are chased out for the most part, still don't have headlights or taillights, but I do have the passing flasher high beam and brake lights, along with turn signals. This is an interesting project and I'm loving every step of the way in getting this scooter back out on the road. Not really looking for help, just raving about my progress over the past couple of days, I am excited that though sitting for 2 years, I've gotten this thing ressurected from the dead for the ost part and it's my first scooter. Many thanks to the forum for help, the wiring diagrams have been extremely helpful in getting the starting system back in order, and the tech articles have been a huge help in making sure everything else is as it should be with this engine and cvt. I'll be putting up pics once it's running good and back together.

Don't forget to check the petcock operation while you're doing the fuel lines/filter. Kick it over with the hose off of the carb and fuel should squirt out.

A long night of replacing all the fuel lines, and basically going into a realm I haven't before. The vacuum operated fuel valve failed to do it's job during the test, so I've temporarily installed a manual petcock in line and installed a nice new fuel filter which will be staying in line anyway. Being in an apartment complex, makes it a little hard to fire off and test at 3 in the morning, but at the moment, she runs on her own will now and doesn't show any issues at all. Time to run this thing down the 20 steps to the ground level and take it to the streets for the first time! In an almost completely stock form, I hope she runs great out there. If in fact she does, it won't be long before I start going into the BBK world and trying for more reliable speed and power.

I prefer to use manual petcocks on all of mine. As long as you can remember to turn it off you should be fine. I don't even turn mine off unless they sit for a while, but mine are in a garage. Worst thing that happens is from time to time the float sticks or something and you end up with gas everywhere. Would not be cool in your apt.

+1 to manual petcocks - mine messed up my original 47cc cylinder and almost the 2nd (after it had be replaced)... vacuum petcocks are totally not worth the money\frustration\whatever. atleast on my keeway never had a problem with the rest of them.

fired it off and fogged the complex for the first time today, let it run for a few minutes and she's almost road worthy again. a little idle adjustment and after reading the other posts on keeping the manual petcock, I think I'll stick with what I have. The downside to sitting for so long is of course, she smokes like a chimney, but it's starting to ease off since it's been ran. It's been a lot of fun bringing it back to life, an interesting learning process all together but it's all pretty much similar to the power equipment I've worked on before too. I'm anxious to get it out and ride, but patience keeps me checking everything twice.

Haven't been around in over a week, the scoot is now clocked just under 2100 miles and running strong! I've checked over everything as far as the CVT, and removed the restrictor while I was there. I'm at the point I'm planning the upgrades, and a lot of the recommendations are being taken from this site. I'm not going crazy with mods, just looking to go fast and.....who am I kidding? I'm going all out!
