That is a good method. Seen others very similar. You get a performance muffler without a high price. One downside vs an aftermarket pipe might be that your header is still stock though. I've modded and made mufflers from scratch to bolt to the stock header before and they worked out fine, but it probably wouldn't be the best choice if you were doing much engine work. It's also easy to create a shorty muffler at that point if you are so inclined. Just chop some length off of the aluminum sleeve and redrill the end you cut off to accept rivets or screws. The shorter you get the louder it gets. Mainly just looks cool.

A good cheap fix. Making it just like the inside of a sports pipe really.
