I was wondering if there is a way to use a magnetic kill switch like the ones used on a jet ski. Has anyone tried this or is there a problem with my thought?

yes, but also to keep the scoot from firing up without the magnet in place.

oh i see..a theft deterrent device. Sym scooters have a valet switch under the seat..so even if someone has your keys it still wont start .

Shouldn't be too hard to use a tether kill switch (dead man switch). Mount to the handlebars and wire it into the existing kill switch circuit. Take the tether with you and it can't be started even with the key. www.google.com/search?rls=en&q=tether+kill+switch

That's the idea. That way they cant even "Hot wire" your scoot and if you put it a well hidden area, just extend the lead wire and they will have a h#ll of a time figuring out why it won't start and possibly leave it alone
