Hi All,
I have done up my scooter with a 160cc kit, A10 camshaft, Performance cylinder head, V8 Oval exhaust and a 26mm OKO carb. I have just got it back together and I seem to have the problem of it misfiring under full throttle. It didn't do this before I had the air filter attached, and it is a performance pod filter which draws cold air from by the back wheel.
Any suggestions? Im either thinking the mixture is too rich or the float in the carb is too low and when I floor it it drop to low and the main jet comes out of the petrol.
If it was too rich i would still expect it to run though, just sooty and badly. I need help quick!

does it feel like a lean misfire or a spark miss?
120 sounds good so it could be a bad plug wire arcing to ground or cracked spark plug porcelain

Dont worry its all sorted now. I actually had a 125 in. Put the 120 in and it runs really good now. I dont want to take out the plug because the squish washer will be buggered and its a brand new plug so it will do for now.
Any suggestions on how to get more top speed. It only has a 10 inch back wheel on it so I may be pushing it. I can get to 85kmh or about 50mph. I have 15g rollers in though. Im thinking I may need to change my gearing for more top speed

what amount of load in lbs is this engine carrying?
A 125cc gy6 makes about 8hp and about 5.75 ft.lbs torque at 8000rpm.
I saw a chart that shows how much hp it takes to make a certain load go certain speed...or something. maybe if whoever posted that sees this they will post it again.
Is that 50 top speed WOT mph? or crusing at 80%?

here is a chart...the pounds is air resistance dont worry about that part so if your 8hp motor is getting to 50mph it seems to be doing okay. a taller tire, a windshield and a free flowing air filter with proper jetting will help...those are some simple bolt on things. a BBK will get you moving. there is no replacement for displacement.

i guess that chart shows more of how much hp it takes to overcome drag at the given speeds. I still feel if your @8hp is doing 50 its doing okay...it will be interesting to know what load its carrying.

I have a bbk. Its 160cc, A10 camshaft, Performance Cylinder head, V8 Exhaust, performance air filter, racing cdi and performance coil. I think its the variator, clutch and gearing thats slowing me down

I would think you have the power to go faster. At nearly 300lbs I could ride my friend's 150 at around 50MPH sitting up. He could do 55 or so at about 150lbs, 60+ tucked.
With 15g rollers is it getting the revs it needs? With the cam and head it should be revving more than stock for peak output. If it's in the powerband with the CVT tune, then I'd guess it might just be small wheels/tires or the final drive gearing.

Oh yea it definetely revs a lot and i seem to have the cvt tuned for the power. I am looking at getting a prodigy clutch and variator kit because my clutch has just about had it and the variator is a bit scratched because a part of it chipped off and rattled around inside for about 3 weeks. I dont know how many revs im doing but im looking at getting an andytach tachometer so i can measure that
