Browsing their website and noticed they don't list the 90cc 2 stroke engine they used to sell. Are they discontinuing? Anybody know? That was a long case 90 I believe which is what I run.

My understanding is that they (not just PFS , but everyone) are running out. From what I heard the 90cc aren't even in production, they were old stock that a couple of places recently bought up and now they're running out of them.

Any idea who still Carries one? I see the short cases around. How big of a difference would switching to a short case be? I guess I can always get my 40qmb case machined I guess.

Yeah, you can have a 50cc case machined. The short cases are all over, even the 50cc long cases are harder to come by. I really don't know where to get a long case 90. Scrappy was the place to go other than PFS, but they are out now too. Pics below show the diff in length of a short and long case. Prob gonna look a little weird and you won't be able to fit the same size wheels/tires. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=yamajog&action=display&thread=999

Yikes, that's a pretty big difference. What has to be machined in the 50 case? Crank case obviously, but also where the jug fits as well right? Is that it?

Hi Its not that they stopped making them, as they still are in production Its that they Stopped importing them to the states due to epa and legal issues concerning 2t engines Im sure some of the dealers will chime in soon and give us the story Take are and ride safely Yours Hank

ATVs use that engine too and not under as much emission rules like an on road vehicle

I may have misunderstood what I read or be remembering it wrong Hank. My apologies if so. Sounded to me like there were some old leftovers and they were bought up by a PFS and Scrappy, and possibly others. Most of the ATVs use the short case. I guess the Adly is the exception? My Polaris 90cc ATV motor is definitely a short case. Polaris switched theirs to 4Ts.

as far as i know adly is the only quad that runs the long case yet they run a short case trans set up so if you want an over range you are on your own to figure out a belt
if you get the athena stroker crank you only need to machine out for the bore and that is made for the zuma so you can run your small taper parts with it

Oh really? That sounds like a viable option jmkjr72. How much does this crank run usually? So it uses the 40qmb stock crankcase bore but has a 45mm stroke? And all you would have to do is machine the bore? That's pretty sweet if it will work that way.

Could you keep the stock 39mm crank and bore for the 54mm jug? Sort of like a poor mans 90cc? I bet the jug height is too tall huh?
