Thought I'd clear this one up.
The 90cc 2t is still being produced in China, what Scrappy and ourselves were stocking were not a group of out of production leftovers... well, ours weren't anyways. They were just the last of our most recent EPA certified shipment.
What has happened is that currently there is no 2012 EPA certification for that engine, or the 80cc QMB 4t for that matter. Also it doesn't look as if any of the engine manufacturers are going to get those two engines EPA certified anymore. Without a current EPA cert Customs won't allow the engines into the country. If we try to ship them in, Customs will have them destroyed and fine us ($$$$) as the Importer of Record.
The catch here is that the engines gain EPA certification when associated with a whole unit, so unless someone re-certifies an actual 90cc scooter or ATV, it doesn't look as if we'll be seeing this engine any more.
What is even scarier to me is that the 50cc Minarelli is also quickly following this same path as EPA certifications get more and more stringent.
None of it is good news unfortunately, sorry.
Matt

Thank you for the info Matt. That sucks. Stupid EPA kills everything fun. Destroying shipments of 2Ts should be the crime. Strap 'em on a stock 49cc 4T with a sealed carb for the rest of their driving/riding lives and see if they regret it. lol

What about if I personally order from out of the country? Being a bodybuilder I have ordered many things from out of the country that aren't sold here and had no problems.. So that motor from Canada would potentially be seized? This is a real bummer.

If the shop orders a right steer car instead on the left side it has to be engineless . Just another example of how the government ruins our fun

Hi I was thinking of importing an Italjet Formula 125 into the states a while back, one hell of a scoot :wheelie: :riding: www.italjet.co.uk/formula125.aspUpon reading about all the hurdles i decided against that course of action www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/I really want that scoot At the moment im trying to get a friend thats currently deployed overseas's in that area of the world to buy one for me It would be legal for him to bring it back as his personal vehicle. but then i still need to go through the hassle of getting ownership transferred to me Take c are and ride safely Yours Hank

That seems like a great idea skuttadawg. I wonder if companies like Parts For Scooters can do that. If so that would be awesome! Although I bet its more expensive to do it that way.
