Its been awhile since I have posted here.
I have been extremely busy with working two jobs and still trying to indulge in a little fun riding the scooter.
Finally work has slowed down and I was to get back to a little bit more of a normal life.
I had some repairs to do to my scooter and didn't want to order the products and wait for them. I wanted to be able to walk into a store and pick them up and go riding the same day.
My wife had told of a scooter store that was close to her work, so I decided to take a visit and see what they had.
The name of the scooter shop is Chair City Motorsports and they are located in Thomasville NC.
From the outside the shop doesnt look like much and the inside is equally the same, no glitter and glamor just a simple shop with some nice looking scoots in it.
What I found out is what this scooter shop doesnt have in glitter and glamor it makes up for in knowledge and friendliness.
I needed a new air box and a replacement left lower quarter panel.
They have both new and used parts so I decided to go the used side.
Richard the store owner went out back and got me a used air box that in my opinion was darn near brand new, it still had all the original stickers on it and all the clamps and was not cracked or broken in any way. The lower quarter panel was the same it just needs to be repainted to match my scooter.
While I was there another gentleman was waiting while they worked on his new 150cc scoot that he had bought at another place.
We talked for awhile and come to find out his scooter would not go past 50 mph but prior to taking it to Chair City Motorsports he had taken it back to the dealer where he got it while it was under warranty. The other place told him everything was fine it just needed broken in. Well we talked and first thing that came to my mind was the belt and that it was bad.
Richard the owner of Chair City Motorsports was in the front while we were talking and was listening to our conversation. He called myself and the other gentleman over to the counter. He pulled a complete 4t motor out of the display case that had the CVT cover off of it.
What happened next surprised me and this is what showed me that there are still people out there that care and are not just about making a buck.
He pulled the Variator off and the clutch off and took 15 minutes to do a complete lesson with us to show exactly what each piece does, how to check it for wear, how to correctly put a belt on and how to put it back together the correct way.
I noticed he had some various pistons laying on the counter with holes in them and rings that were seized and was explaining to the other gentleman what causes this and how to prevent this from happening. Richard the owner became involved in this conversation and was quite impressed with what I told the guy so he took the conversation to the next level and went into more detail.
You could tell that Richard really does care and isnt out to just make a buck I believe that their thought is that the more we educate the you about repairs the happier you will be in the end.
While there they also allowed me to go and look at all the junk scooters they have to see if there was anything else I needed.
This is seldom done around here as everyone is afraid you are going to steal from them or get hurt and sue them.
These people really do care so if you live close to Thomasville NC and need parts or just have a need for some one on one knowledge then I would say stop in at Chair City Motorsports and talk to Richard. Its well worth it and you will walk away with what you want and still have money in your wallet.
