I just Got a new VIP and it was running rough and wouldn't start at times. I replaced the carb with an unsealed one. I could move the choke housing about a 1/2 turn and the tech guys told me it shouldn't do that, so they sent me a whole new carb. It ran great for a little while but started running rough again. I noticed that when it runs rough the tachometer pegs itself in the red. It,s intermittent and seems like a loose wire someplace. I checked all I could find but found none. Last time it did it was when I kicked the kickstand up. There is nothing around that, no wires. Any help?

I would check the ignition coil and CDI wiring. Also, A bad CDI will do some whacky stuff. I keep a spare on my bike at all times.

:welcome: to the forum flyingnurse.
Check all of your ground points at the battery, engine, and frame as well as what 1FASTQMB said.
