thats normal since the headlight runs directly off the stator.

oh so it's not like a car where the batt runs everything and the stator/alternator recharges the battery? might be better to rewire it to ignition switch with switchable wire to the battery?

It is wired the way it is because the battery is too small for anything more. if you do anything rewire the entire headlight system wiring with larger gauge wires.
I decided to just get used to it since i need to see more when im moving vs. when i am sitting.

You can up the idle speed if it really bugs you. Of course make sure you aren't speeding it up so much that the clutch is engaging and trying to drive when you don't want it to. I have seen a a friend's scooter come stock with the headlights wired to battery power. He liked that it didn't dim, but it wasn't long before he started having issues with a low/dead batteries. He went overkill and stuck a small car battery under the seat. He said it fixed the problem, also added a ton of weight and killed all of his storage though. lol Even with a car battery, if it's having trouble keeping up it should eventually drain it if you don't put it on a charger when it's parked.

Put in a LED tail light and the head light(s) will be brighter

wow a car batt under the seat lol that is overkill! i was thinking a garden tractor battery we carry them at my work and there less than MC batts under the seat i didn't think of that. but think i'll try skutta's idea first don't want batt drain issues.
