I pulled apart the carb on the ls49 today everything looked pretty clean. The idle jet (pilot) was 22.5... Im thinking this is pretty lean when i worked on 4 stroke bikes they were usually 35 to 38 range. im not sure if 2 strokes are diffrent or what. The main was a 70 Jet this also seemed lean to me. i could be wrong. But with 4 strokes 80-85 was the sweet spot Someone correct me or tell me im wrong Its just the Idle spot when i adjust the carb seems to be below the actual idle pin that holds up the Slide. Like when i twist it counter clockwise and i know its getting close to the very end of the pin it starts to idle perfectly then it drops past the slide. Then i have to unscrew it turn throttle up to raise Slide then twist throttle back in to hole the slide. Im guessing the reason this is is because i need to make my jets richer?

well you cant compare carb bran a jet numbers to carb brand b
why is they number there jet diffrently
some use the hole dia some use the flow and then there are the ones that use a number that they get from a formula with the hole dia and the flow
there are many things that come into play not just th ehole dia but the angles of the in and out seats of the jet
why are you running at 32 to 1 you got a big fancy race kit in there

That sounds fine on pilot jet size. The stock minarelli carbs are usually right around a 20 pilot. 70 is a decent main jet for these all stock. Might be a little off, might not. Try richening the idle mix screw a little and then trying the idle speed adjustment over. I've never seen one need to idle below where the idle speed screw allows. If it does, I'd think either something is wrong with the idle speed screw or you have an intake leak.

40:1 should do it. More oil in the premix makes your jets act slightly smaller, because there's less gas to the same volume of fluid passing through the jet.

Hi Have you tried doing a plug chop to determine if you are actually running lean or not? Take care and ride safely Yours Hank
