...if all goes as planned. I've made up my mind and I'll be getting myself a Jonway Wasp. She will be a yellow 2T. I should be making the trek up to Jupiter Scooters tomorrow, all things being on the up and up. I'm gonna be registering it myself so if anybody wants to give me any pointers I'd be much obliged. From there I'm gonna have it trucked down to my girl's house. I'll be taking some pics and hopefully some video as well and I'll post to the board and to Youtube as soon as I can.
Thanks.

Congrats! I have a red 2008 Wasp that I picked up in 09. It was supposed to be a fixer-upper and sell her. I still have it. Enjoy the front and rear disc brakes.

Thanks a lot guys. But dig this. I decided against the purchase. Here's how the story panned out.
Me and the Mrs arrived at Jupiter Scooters at a little after 10am yesterday (May 8). The place doesn't open until 11 so we decide to just hang out. We only waited a few minutes until Debra arrived. We get right down to business and she opens up the office and the storage area. She gets the yellow Wasp out and guys, trust me. It was rough-looking. It showed signs of being out in the sun a lot and being exposed to the dust from the unpaved parking area. It also had about 17 km on the clock that she says was from running it back and forth every day. It turned out to be a 2010 model. It took quite some doing to get started, but when it did it ran smoothly. I was feeling a bit disappointed at this point because I wanted to see plastic-wrapped bits and pieces. Anyway, I weighed out my options and what I really wanted (2 stroke, rear disc) and said, let's go for it. The Mrs was not as convinced. She was beginning to show signs of discomfort. I've learnt over the years to hear her out and not dismiss her, even though she had not yet seen the scoot. Anyway, I walk back into the office and there in the corner was a very shiny Jonway Magnum with the disc rear brake and the stinger-type exhaust (I don't know how functional it is as an expansion chamber but it looks hella cool) and plastic covered bits and pieces. I sat there as Debra wrote up the receipt and I said to her that I was beginning to feel the Magnum. She said I should think about it, but it was going for 1500. I called the Mrs in to have a look at both to gauge her opinion. She looks and agrees that the Magnum is the better deal. Anyway, I told Debra that I'd love to go with the Magnum, but I couldn't do 1500. At this point she stops dead in her tracks. She hands me my driver's licence and says "Sorry". I tried to haggle a bit and she just leaned back in her chair with this dumbass grin on her face and said "sorry". So I just picked up my shit and bid her farewell. If she was willing to knock that $100 off the price she would have made a sale, but no. She was trying to be a smartass. I wanted that scooter...no doubt about it and she knew it. But my left brain controls my show...not the right. So I just walked.
My next stop was to Boca Scooters. I had been talking to Colton for a number of months and he had always been helpful. I arrived at his place and he walked me through his wares and his establishment. He had a number of TaoTao 50s with 10 inchers, and a lone 12 incher. I was interested in the latter. Anyway, to make a long story short, The 12 incher was slightly used. Apparently an old timer bought it and rode it around for a few days and got scared and took it back. It looked absolutely spotless. Colton cut me a deal I can work with. I'm going with a gorgeous blue model and I'm doing the 72cc BBK on it. It comes with a rain cover, a matching storage box on the back. No disc at the rear and it's a 4T (don't kill me Brent) but I was just comfortable, know what I mean? I would have taken some pics but I'm saving that for the time I take delivery, which should have been today.
And that takes me to where I am now. Why didn't I take delivery today as scheduled? Colton came through on his end of the bargain, but I couldn't get back to him with the truck. We had a plumbing emergency that didn't get sorted out until sometime after 5 so I just called it a day. I'll pick it up tomorrow (May 10). Look out for the pics...
Thanks a lot guys!!

The customer is always right! I would of felt let down too with 17km on the clock thats not a new bike. When i brough my scooter they would not do a deal, It had £100 off already and i tried everything. Did get a bottle of two stroke oil thrown in though lol

Even I think you made the right choice. lol If the dealer had an attitude, I'm glad they didn't get the sale. Not being able to move on a price I can understand, but you can be friendly and explain it. I think you'll enjoy your new ride and even if you did sacrifice a little HP, you'll get more gas mileage to make up for it. You also get to do valve adjustments and oil changes. Seriously, congrats and I'm looking forward to checking out the pics.

Okay guys. I am in possession! The transaction went smoothly both on collection and at registration. My hat goes off to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Florida Department of Revenue. They certainly made the paperwork process easy for a foreigner. For the record my driver's licence would not have sufficed as identification. The lady there asked for my passport instead. So word to the wise to our non-US members who may be desirous of buying a scoot in the US, go to the tax office with EVERY bit of document you can muster, just in case. The entire process took about 45 minutes, but only because when I got there the number on the counter was 33 and mine was 52. There were certainly not that many people ahead of me, but not sure what happened. I took some pics, but once again i forgot the USB cable at home. I took some more pics with my cellphone so I'll upload those for now. Bear with me until I get it sorted. That said, she rides pretty nice, but it will take a while to get used to the 4T throttle response (or lack of it, LOL), but it's not too bad. Anyway...here goes:

I was expecting that basic styling, but more rounded. I like it.

Hey gang...I did a video this morning. It was a walkaround of the scoot. I have to edit it and so on, but that's not the only holdup. I'm in deeper do than I thought with my camera. None of the cables that I have access to will fit it so I will have to either buy a replacement or wait until I get back home on June 5. <sigh>. Stay tuned.
