hi all. im currently tuning my aprilia area 51 scooter . so far ive fitted a AIRSAL 70CC Aluminium cylinder kit Enki I-Valve induction kit leo vinci tt exhaust ram air race filter and a dellorto phbn 17.5mm carb
Ive had the scoot on the road for a few days now and am having a few issues . at the moment it smokes like a trooper at idle/1/4 turn but clears up after that and at wot for a few seconds the scoot bogs down but revs up again after a second or two. Im currently running on a premix of 32:1 with a BR8HS plug. my jet sizes are pilot jet 50 and main jet 110. ive done a plug chop at idle and its oily and wet done a plug chop at wot and it lean but only slightly
Am i right in thinking that the pilot jet is far too big, if so what would you recommend
and i could probably try the next size main jet up , maybe a 112/115. Ive probably answered my own questions here but am just interested in other peoples opinions. im new to this tuning game. anyone got any advice on what the next tuning stage should be after i get the carb sorted? thanks ben

The Dells are pretty well known for coming with large pilots. Most seem to end up at 30-40 on the 19-21mm PHBGs. Not sure if the same applies for yours, but sounds like it might.
Try a larger main for sure.
Once that's right, probably CVT tuning.

hello, right ive had a play about with the scooter over the last few days , fitted a 34 pilot jet and a 115 main and set the needle to the second notch. Wow what a difference . this scoot is now a pocket rocket!!!! whoop whoop. it accelerates right upto 104km without hesitation . the only problem ive had is when i took it for a pretty aggressive 40km ride . about 30k in the bike soft seized but started back up after a min. ive tried setting the needle to its lowest position but it sounds very throaty at the bottom end with some misfiring when i pull away from stop to wot. ive just fitted a 120 main and set the needle to the middle notch and its even worse and running very rich. Any suggestions as to how i can over come the soft seizes. im going to be riding this scoot hard and fast 80% of the time. cheers ben ps think ill go out for a quick blast now. cant get enough of it at the mo lol

If jetting changes don't stop the soft seizes, my first suggestions would be to make sure there's no obvious reason it would overheat and to do a pressure test to see if there may be a case leak.
