well i got my big bore kit in today, only to find i can't start it due to lack of spark, i've took off the body and tracked down the wires from the coil to check for any pinched/broken wires, ive replaces the coil and cdi, still no spark, my battery is fully charged. i've made sure everything is plugged up correctly and checked the magneto i was told that thats how it generates its fire, as the magneto spins it goes under a lip, i looked at the lip and its about a half inch above the magneto and that doesn't seem like i would create enough electricity to fire, maybe im wrong, and i was hoping you guys would have a couple ideas so i could get this little beast on the road. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Just go to autozone and get wire, terminals and a crimper tool and make your own.

no its the 2 wire thing down there on the case that gets signal from the magnet on the flywheel. you need to test continuity on it with a meter to see if its open.

how often do they go bad? i seen this scooter run about 2-3 weeks before i purchased it. but i when i took it apart it was all coroded, even the flywheel so i took a steel brush and a drill and cleaned it all up. would there be any other symptoms of a bad pickup coil? one i can find without a meter?

you need to test continuity on it with a meter to see if its open. or replace it and see what happens. those are your options at this point. you say grounds are good. you say new coil and cdi. that leaves pickup coil and stator. you need a meter to check them....or replace and hope for the best.

more likely a bad stator since it was in a corrosive environment but a bad pick up coil cannot be ruled out with no meter.

if you plan to do your own work there are 2 things you cannot live without. a compression gauge and a multimeter.
