So I bought a 2003 Tomos a35 off of craigslist about a week ago, and now the throttle cable has detached itself. And has started fraying. :swear: I don't want to deal with this...I am so goddamn sick of taking the bus to work :banghead: Anyone know what kind of cable to get? Coupling at the end of the one I have looks like the TC 300 illustrated here, but the one described as being for my engine is the TC 200, which looks completely different. Can I just get this universal cable? Does it matter? Twisting the throttle (used to) pull up the choke lever if it was down, does that make any difference? And how do I install the cable into the handgrip? I know how to run it though the carb, but I can't figure this bit out. Do I just run the end of the line through the hole? Or do I take apart the handlebar? there doesn't seem to be a simple way of doing that... Thanks nic

I don't know any specifics about your ped, but maybe contact the seller and tell them your concern.
Your throttle assembly should have a couple of bolts in it and removing them should split the assembly in half. Put the cable through the hole in one of the halves. The hand grip has a receiver in it for the barrel at the end of the cable. Put the barrel in there and you should also notice a groove around that grip for the bale to be wrapped in. Look it all over and test for smooth operation before you put it back on the handlebars. If there is any binding or rough feel, take it apart and look it over again.

You are lucky, Tomos is still in business, and parts should be no problem. www.tomosusa.com/pagesIf they won't sell to you they can direct you to a local source. In a pinch a "universal gear cable inner" from a 10 speed bicycle can be made to work. You use the end that fits your twist grip in your old outer cable, and tie a knot in the cable, at the appropriate place, to fit in your carburetor slide.

...and they appear have the exact thing I need! Excellent, thanks much! Have no idea how I missed that site. Hopefully I'll be back to riding by next week. ;D
