I had a variator for my GY6, but the engine was having so many problems when I installed it that I can't give you a good review of it's advantage over stock. I can tell you that I've used quite a few aftermarket variators on two-strokes and they should work in much the same way. Don't expect a big MPH increase, I'd guess anywhere from 0-5MPH. One of the biggest advantages to a good vari is that it keeps your RPM more constant. That will give you a boost in acceleration and usually cruising speed, because you can tune to stay within your powerband more. Check out reviews if you can find them, because not all variators are created equal.
A fancy clutch for a GY6 is not money well spent IMO unless you have some crazy build. A stock clutch with a spring swap will handle most builds.

agree with 90,an with some variators they could b s little to tall an you wont b able to use you electric starter cause the gear will grind on the variator, like mind does,i had to sand just a bit were it doesn't affect my variator..
