Hi,
There's a dealer in my area that offers CPI Oliver City scooters. In all of the previous nosing around this forum and various other forums and internet sites, I had never heard of these until I specifically went online to find out about them. Unfortunately, I could not find any really good information about them. Does anyone have any experience and/or knowledge about them? They're a helluva good looking scooter, but that doesn't tell me if they're worth it. I found out they've been around for quite some time and that they're made in Taiwan (same as Kymco). But... are they any good? I was thinking of putting one on lay-away at the dealership. Thoughts? Reactions? Sarcastic humor? ;-)

Personally: I *think* you are best served by buying a used Zuma. Lots of dealers, good parts supply, and better, if not more expensive, service (if you need such).
I am not putting down Chinese (or Taiwanese) scooters, and own one alongside a used Zuma I picked up, but once sorted out, I do not think you can do much better than a Zuma.
So, I have to throw this back at you: if you are able to fix your own (or are willing to learn), and are comfortable sourcing parts over the Internet, then that Chinese (or Taiwanese) scooter will do it for you, probably cheaper than a Zuma.

I have a pre-bug Zuma now that I picked up from 2strokd and LOVE it! :riding: The hardest part is finding another one. Nobody else wants to give one up (understandably so). I don't mind picking up another, at all. LOL My *only* problem with them is that I don't really like the looks of them - pre-bug or bug-eyed. The one I have now is going to be a project. I've looked up how to fabricate body parts using either fiber glass or carbon fiber and I'm totally addicted to the idea of trying it out.
I do want a 2nd scooter while I play w/ the body parts on the lil' monstah that I have now. I just got kind of excited to find a scooter that seemed to be well established that I'd never heard of that looked really good. But, the 2nd scooter I get has to be reliable, as it will be my daily driver and I don't really want to have to worry about having to futz with it too much. Ideally, I wouldn't mind getting another ZOOOOM-AH or getting a used Honda Elite or even a used Tomos Nitro. But finding any one of them for a decent price is like finding a winning lotto ticket. :-D

CPI Oliver= pretty darn scoot IMO . A bigger version of Skeedr. So far i have no real complaints with CPI machines. 190mech rides a CPI Oliver and its been a good machine to him. Parts are widely available. They are (or were) Minarelli powered....

The guy has a lay-away option - so I think I'm gonna do that.
So.... I can't wait to see it, too!
